Sr. Director of User Experience

Location: Greater Salt Lake City, Utah

We’re looking for a Senior UX Director to lead our well-established team of nearly 20 highly motivated, high-output designers. You will have a huge impact by shaping the strategic design direction of Lucid’s products, features, and experiences. You will inherit a working design system, career ladder, and team structure. You will also have the opportunity to develop both young design talent as well as senior designers from a diverse range of design backgrounds while scouting and hiring new designers to continue to build the team.
We are looking for a strategic leader to guide our UX teams and contribute to the overall leadership of our product organization. This leader will build upon the high competency of our UX organization, be focused on delighting our customers, and feel strong accountability for meeting business outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage product designers and managers by genuinely caring about how they grow, learn, and succeed
  • Collaborate with the Design team and others to solve complicated problems from a business, process, and design perspective 
  • Responsible for health and developing a strategy around a scalable design system 
  • Oversee and further the Design career ladder and growth matrix of all design roles 
  • Oversee training and development of designers and design managers
  • Involvement in product strategy and future vision of product 
  • Work closely with senior leadership to keep cross-discipline teams aligned
  • Coordinate of design across Lucid products
  • Collaborate with leaders across the company: Data & Analytics, Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and more
  • Establish and coordinate user research efforts across product development and design
  • Advocate for strong user perspective across all scrum teams and product development
  • Influence and develop OKRs for product organization
  • Oversee all of hiring and resource planning for product design team
  • Further the yearly internship program by working closely with Talent Acquisition
  • Be involved in budgeting for the department at the software service level
  • Evaluate new tools for the team 

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in a Director level role 
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Resource management experience
  • Experience working with multiple scrum teams
  • Strong tactical sense to position designers and coordinate effectively 
  • A desire to inspire individuals to perform at highest of standards at all times
  • Willingness to take initiative to solve problems and communicate with other leaders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong acumen and passion for UX and UI design (experience, visual, and interaction design)
  • Able to present case study of conceptual or strategic work within a design team
  • Experience and ability to establish credibility within design, product, and engineering
  • Master's degree in Design, HCI, or an equivalent field
