Tax Manager

Location: Greater Salt Lake City, Utah

Lucid is seeking a dynamic Tax Manager to join our Finance and Accounting team. Our team plays a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, optimal financial management, and efficient operations across Lucid. We also partner across all organizations in Lucid to appropriately allocate resources, inform key business decisions, and facilitate the execution of our operational plans. We have optimized many of our accounting processes and systems but we still have a lot of work to do, especially after opening offices in The Netherlands and Australia.   • Oversee outside service providers to ensure corporate tax returns are compiled and filed in a timely manner
  • Manage international transfer pricing strategy and ensure compliance with US and international requirements including documentation and inter-company agreements
  • Research complex tax issues and provide recommendations regarding US, non-US and cross-border business transactions
  • Identify corporate tax characterization and withholding tax/treaty issues including tracking of withholding taxes on cross-border transactions
  • Prepare US foreign bank account reporting and filings, including FBAR
  • Manage outside service providers for timely and accurate indirect tax returns, including VAT and GST
  • Interface with third-party providers related to a variety of tax matters
  • Prepare VAT and GST filings for US entity
  • Manage all intercompany accounting, including transfer pricing and reconciliation of intercompany loan
  • Manage, file and pay U.S. sales tax returns (32 jurisdictions)
  • Perform semi-annual sales tax study to assess taxable presence in other jurisdictions
  • Reconcile sales tax, VAT and GST accounts
  • Identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances in sales tax liability and asset accounts in Netsuite, Avalara and Recurly (billing software)
  • Collaborate with Accounting to ensure completeness for month-end close
  • Manage tax provision and related disclosures including review of quarterly and annual income tax provision work papers, journal entries and disclosures, documentation of uncertain tax positions, analysis of tax balance sheet accounts to ensure compliance, integrity of account balances/financial reporting and effectiveness of business processes
  • Manage and support external auditors' review of the income tax provision
  • Develop and document tax processes and controls including research and implementation of new tax guidance
  • Stay apprised of global permanent establishment rules and make recommendations based on Lucid’s sales and operational strategies
  • Manage GOED credits
  • Address any and all tax audits
  • Other projects and/or assignments, as needed


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of tax experience in a corporate and/or public accounting environment
  • Excellent technical expertise and understanding of US and international tax regulations
  • Ability to research and analyze complex tax issues
  • Ability to extract, analyze, and review data and make appropriate recommendations to management
  • Willingness and ability to perform tasks at all levels, from detailed preparation to high-level review
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Passion for working with emerging technologies with an ability to understand new technical concepts
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and a self-starter with zeal for taking ownership
  • Strategic thinker who operates with extreme attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently, with little direction
  • Out-of-the box thinker
  • Motivation for excellence and exceeding expectations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Tax
  • CPA
  • International accounting experience
  • Public accounting experience
  • Netsuite and Avalara experience
